Properties of Activated Vegetable Charcoal
Vegetable charcoal, apart form being a fossil fuel, it is a medicinal remedy that has been used since remote times. In fact, there is a papyrus from Ancient Egypt that dates the use of vegetable carbon as a medical use at the year 1500 a.C.
The main ingredient of this supplement has been obtained through the carbonisiation of coconut shell, which is activated to increase its properties. The activation process consists in heating the carbon without oxygen and introducing certain gases that open up its pores, to allow a greater capacity to store different substances.
Active charcoal is associated to digestive health in humans. It is effective reducing intestinal gas, reducing swelling symptoms and abdominal cramps. (1)
