What is Coconut Oil?
Coconut Oil (Virgin and Organic) by HSN Foods is made of virgin coconut oil, a medium chain fatty acids source (MCT's) with multiple benefits for our organism.
Coconut oil comes from the milk extracted from the fresh coconut pulp, through a cold extraction process, which will keep its properties intact.
The composition of coconut oil will include certain molecules that are formed by three saturated fatty acids with a length of 6 to 12 carbon atoms that are esterified with glycerol. Specifically the following acids: caprylic (C8:0), caproic (C6:0), capric (C10:0) and lauric (C12:0).
What are the properties of Coconut Oil?
This type of fatty acids follow a metabolic pathway when they are metabolized by our organism, unlike other fatty acids. In fact, they quickly pass through the stomach and are hydrolyzed by the lipases in the small intestine, and they are absorbed practically straight away and transported to the liver, where they are processed. This is a way of obtaining sustained energy quickly.
The body is very efficient when it comes to digesting MCT's, since it does not require bile salts for their digestion, and they enter the bloodstream easily.
For those who have problems with the digestion of long chain fats, the MCT's from coconut oil will be a useful choice to consider. In this way, it can be said that it is a fat that, instead of being accumulated in the lipid tissues, it will be used as a highly powerful energy source.
Who can benefit from Coconut Oil?
- People who want to benefit from any of the properties from coconut oil.

Perfect substitute for butter
I've never tried coconut oil before but I truly wanted to stop using butter to cook, and I do not regret my decision, now I cannot cook without it!
