What is Micellar Casein by HSN Raw?
Micellar Casein by HSN Raw is a slow digestion protein especially designed to be consumed before going to sleep or for those moments of the day when we are going to spend several hours without eating any food.
Micellar casein is the most abundant protein in milk (it accounts for 80% of total protein). It is rich in essential amino acids, important minerals like calcium and bioactive peptides that contribute to a proper function of the immune system.
These characteristics make of micellar casein a very beneficial food for both athletes and anyone looking for a source of quality protein.
What are the properties of Micellar Casein?
It has been obtained through a meticulous microfiltration process that separates micellar casein from the lactose, fat, and whey of the milk. This procedure does not alter its structure nor does it denature the protein, which means that it does not break the molecular structure of the protein and it preserves all of the bioactive peptides that are in charge of the immune function.
Casein is an excellent source of essential (called this way because the body is not capable of bio-synthesizing them from other amino acids, which means that their consumption is mandatory) and non-essential amino acids.
Casein is the protein* with the highest proportion of bioactive peptides that exists. It is also rich in minerals such as calcium, phosphorous, iron, zinc, or copper.
It is very rich in amino acids that are of great importance such as glutamine and the branched chain amino acids (BCAA's). However, Casein has a lower content of BCAA's than whey protein and its biological value is also a bit smaller.

Slow digestion protein
Casein is a slow absorption protein. When it comes into contact with the stomach acid, casein has the ability to 'coagulate' and form a type of thick gel, which allows the amino acids to be released slowly and steadily into the bloodstream.
Helps to preserve muscle mass
Casein is known as an 'anti-catabolic' protein because it has the ability to provide a sustained release of the amino acids to the bloodstream, even 7-8 hours after its consumption, since this is how long it takes to digest and absorb it.
It is the perfect protein to consume before going to sleep and in this way maintain a positive nitrogen balance during the hours that we are asleep.
Additionally, its consumption may be beneficial at any time of the day, especially for those moments when we are going to spend several hours without consuming any protein.
It is also ideal to add it to a post-workout shake along with whey proteins in order to stimulate the recovery processes. Whey protein increases the protein synthesis, but casein provides a sustained release of amino acids to prolong its effects.
Beneficial for the Bones
Due to its important minerals content such as calcium, phosphorous, iron, zinc, or copper, casein is an excellent product to help you meet the daily recommended intake of such minerals and maintain bone health.
Favours weight loss
Casein is a protein with a powerful satiating effect, which makes it a food that should be taken into account for weight control diets. As it was previously mentioned, when it comes in contact with the stomach's acids, it creates a type of clots which delay the gastric emptying, increases the absorption times, and satiates the appetite for several hours.
Encourages a proper immune system function
Casein contains a high percentage of bioactive peptides and a large amount of glutamine, which promotes a correct immune system function.
Neutral flavor, ideal for enriching your recipes
This casein has a neutral flavour, and can be easily added to any recipe. You can mix it in with your protein shakes, waffles, pancakes, bars, etc.
Who can benefit from Micellar Casein?
- Sportspeople or Athletes, especially those who seek maximum muscle development, while avoiding muscle breakdown as much as possible, and encouraging recovery.
- Anyone looking for a source of quality protein.

I like it!
This product has a fairly good percentage of protein. It is not the best format, but you get used to it and eventually find a way to store it. I personally like to add some defatted cocoa powder to give it some flavorHSN Sport Nutrition and Natural Dietetics
Good product overall
Unlike other caseins, it dissolves really well, although sometimes it makes a lot of foam. You have to try for yourself and find the right amount of water to get the texture that you wantHSN Sport Nutrition and Natural Dietetics
Low fat and slow-absorption protein supply. A quality product with an excellent absorption that you can mix with whatever you want, very happy with this purchase!HSN Sport Nutrition and Natural Dietetics
