What is Evonight 2.0?
Evonight 2.0 by HSNsports is a flavored powdered product made from milk protein that contains two protein fractions (casein and whey) from grass-fed cattle; and albumin from egg whites that come from cafe-free hens.
This product provides 25g of high quality protein per serving from several sources with different absorption rates. Therefore, Evonight 2.0 is the perfect protein if you are looking for a multi-phase amino acid supply, specially during the night.
Evonight 2.0 is made up by 5 types of protein with different absorption rates:
- Whey protein concentrate
- Milk protein isolate
- Calcium caseinate
- Whey protein isolate
- Egg Albumin
Why take Evonight 2.0?
Protein is a nutrient that performs many functions in the organism; such as helping to preserve and gain muscle mass and protect the bones as well.
“Animal protein (such as egg, milk, red meat, fish and poultry) is the best source of this nutrient in terms of quality and quantity” (Hoffman & Falvo, 2004).
In order to make our Evonight 2.0, we have combined two protein sources, milk and egg, in order to combine three types of protein with different features.
Why have we combined different sources?
First of all, we wanted to obtain a complete aminogram (amino acid profile), since the different protein sources will complement each other in order to make up for other sources that do not have as many amino acids.
Second and even more importantly, because there is a lot of scientific literature that has proven how taking protein before bedtime is actually a quite interesting strategy. Trommelen and Loon (2016) concluded the following: “pre-sleep protein supplementation can be effectively used to increase even more the gains of muscle mass and strength”.
The authors stated that “taking additional protein before sleeping is a useful strategy when it comes to increasing the daily protein intake, adding another meal and enhancing the muscle protein synthesis during the night; this effect seems to add up to the muscle protein synthesis ratio observed throughout the day” (Trommelen & Loon, 2016).
What does this mean? In this study, the participants took a dose of protein at 11:00 p.m before bedtime. This helped to increase their protein synthesis exponentially during the night when compared to the group that did not take protein.
However, most protein sources are absorbed relatively fast. Purpura et al. (2014) showed how “the amino acid total after taking whey protein reached its peak after 69± 3 min”; but we sleep more than that, right? So what about the rest of the time?
Well, we can use casein since “it becomes a very efficient gel and nutrient supply, providing a low amino acid discharge through the bloodstream that can lasts several hours” (Boirie et al. 1997 quoted in Hoffman & Falvo, 2004).
These two sources, together with egg albumin has a different absorption rate that results in a tri-phase protein, but why is this better?
Because “taking a combination of slow and fast absorption protein seems to be an effective way of increasing the muscle mass and strength gains” (Trommelen & Loon, 2016).
How to take Evonight 2.0?
Evonight 2.0 is a perfect protein for those moments when you need a quick amino acid supply combined with a slow release throughout time; for instance:
- With breakfast if you are not going to eat anything for several hours.
- Before bedtime.
How to take Evonight 2.0?
Mix a serving of Evonight 2.0 in 200-250ml of water in order to make sure that you enjoy its taste and texture.
You can take Evonight 2.0 several times a day depending on your protein requirements.

I recover better from physical exercise since I started using it and I wake up feeling less hungry, which is great because I like doing some cardio on an empty stomach before eating my breakfast. The chocolate-caramel flavour is my favourite so far!HSN Sport Nutrition and Natural Dietetics
A great protein blend. The snickerdoodle flavour and the texture are excellent. I use it at night before going to sleep but also in the morning if I am going to spend several hours without eating anything.HSN Sport Nutrition and Natural Dietetics
