Dark Tahini by Meridian is a black sesame paste typical of Middle Eastern cuisine, used to spread directly on bread or as a compliment for other recipes such as hummus, aubergine puree or Falafel. This cream has a high content in group B vitamins (B1, B2, B3, B6, pantothenic acid, folic acid and biotin) and vitamin E.
It is very rich in minerals such as magnesium, zinc, iron, copper and calcium, and it therefore very appropriate for keeping the bones healthy. It also contains a natural antioxidant, sesamol. Tahini cream has a high fibre content to help improve digestive processes. It is very rich in healthy fats, essentially based on linoleic, palmitic and stearic acid.
The seeds also contain equal proportions of oleic acid (monounsaturated) and linoleic (polyunsaturated) which are beneficial for cardiovascular health Due to its great nutritional value and its ability to remove hunger, it is advisable to incorporate Tahini cream into many weight control diets, for active people, athletes, children, adolescents and even for the elderly.
Despite the fact that Tahini is not very well known in traditional gastronomy, it represents a useful resource for vegetarian cuisine and helps vary the flavour, presentation and character of our dishes. It has a significant protein content, although it should be borne in mind that they are proteins of vegetable origin and it is therefore advisable to complement with another type of food to complete the profile of essential amino acids. A good idea is to combine with pulses and cereals to create a high quality protein. Experts in nutrition suggest adding these seeds as a condiment to salads, pastas, vegetables or fruit, eating them with bread or even biscuits.
