LUTEIN is a powerful antioxidant, because it helps our body to neutralize the action of free radicals, which is a type of unstable molecule that are produced daily and are responsible for different diseases and cellular aging. This antioxidant effect makes the therapeutic uses vary varied:
- Vision: The outer part of the retina is rich in polyunsaturated acids that are victims of the free radicals that Lutein fights, it also acts as a light filter protecting our eyes from some of the harmful effects of the sun. By ingesting the recommended daily amount of Lutein we are preventing diseases such as blindness.
- Skin: Protects the skin from solar radiation and fights premature aging.
- Cancer: Lutein is one of the strongest carotenoids, which makes it an important nutrient in preventing tumor and carcinogenic processes (although this depends on many other factors), as it improves the immune system and cellular communication.
